FORT SOCTT, Kan. - The No. 14 NIACC softball team split a pair of contests on Friday at the Ty Cullor Classic.
NIACC topped Labette CC 10-5 in its first contest and dropped a 4-3 decision to host Fort Scott CC in its second game of the day.
In the win over Labette CC, NIACC's Emily Jones was 2 for 3, including a home run, with four RBIs. The Trojans' Ariana Lopez was 3 for 4, including a home run, with two RBIs.
Also for the Trojans against Labette, Katy Olive scored three runs.
NIACC's Izzy Sloan, who relieved starter Brynn Stalberger, did not allow a run in five innings of work. Sloan struck out five and only allowed one hit.
In the one-run loss to Fort Scott CC, Olive was 2 for 3, including a home run and double, with two RBIs. Sloan was 2 for 3, including a double.
NIACC's Macy Kellar allowed four runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts in six innings of work. The freshman right-hander has 28 strikeouts in three starts this season.
NIACC (4-2) returns to action Saturday at the Ty Cullor Classic. The Trojans face Northern Oklahoma College-Enid at noon and play Fort Scott CC at 4 p.m.
