
The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team took down the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds, 65-34 Jan.19 at Park University in Parkville, Mo. There were four Blue Devils who finished in double figures, and the starting five added 11 total steals.
Zoe Clark led the Blue Devils with 15 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and one block. The freshman guard from Topeka, Kan. has progressively gotten better as the season has gone on. Clark started the season only scoring 22 points in the first eight games. She has now scored more than 10 points in nine of the last 11 games. Capri Garrett, Ja'Cole Johnson and Amaya Gallegos all finished the game with 14 points. They combined for 14 rebounds, seven steals and four blocks. Destiny Ochs was the only Blue Devil to score from the bench, going 1-3 from the floor and finished with two points, six rebounds and one steal. KCKCC led by as many points as 31 in the game and only let the Greyhounds up by two points at the 9:13 mark in the first quarter. The Blue Devils were up 34-18 at halftime and only allowed the Greyhounds to score 16 points in the second half.
For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 27-61 from the field (44.3%), 1-10 from three-point range (10%) and 10-12 the free-throw line (83.3%). The Greyhounds shot 14-54 from the field (25.9%), 3-14 from three-point range (21.4%) and 3-8 from the free-throw line (37.5%).
The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against the Highland Community College Scotties at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan.
