#2 Ravens Come Alive in the Second Half and Down the Thunderbirds of Cloud 82-67

COFFEYVILLE, Kan - After a sluggish first half, the #2 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team came alive in the second half and defeated the Thunderbirds of Cloud County 82-67.  In the win, the Red Ravens improved their overall seasonal record to a clean 11-0 which includes a 9-0 record in KJCCC play.  The 9-0 KJCCC record currently has the Ravens ranked first in the KJCCC East Division.

Dating back to last year, the Ravens have now won 20 in a row.  That streak currently ranks third in program history behind the Raven 2002 team which won 28 in a row which ended with a single point loss to Dixie State (82-81) in the 2002 NJCAA National Championship game.  The 2013 Red Raven team won 25 in a row ending with an 85-62 loss in the Region VI Semifinal game to a #9 NJCAA ranked Hutchinson.

Against Cloud, the Ravens did not have a good first half.  Coffeyville trailed Cloud 35-33 at halftime behind poor shooting, Ravens shot 39% in the first half along with being outrebounded by Cloud.  The second half saw the Ravens shot better, Ravens shot 53% in the second half as well as pulling even with Cloud in rebounds.  For the game, Coffeyville was able to edge Cloud 45-44 on the boards.  Offensively, Coffeyville put in a 17-3 run midway through the second half that pushed the game out of reach for the Thunderbirds and Coffeyville earned the 82-67 victory.

Coffeyville had three players in double figures; freshman Love Bettis led the way with 19 points, sophomore Tylor Perry pitched in 16 points, and freshman center Blaise Keita had 13 points.  Raven sophomore guard Bostyn Holt had 8 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Coffeyville will return to action this Saturday, February 27th with a road game to Iola Kansas to match up with the Red Devils of Allen County.  Early tipoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
