Butler Sweeps Pratt at Home
EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler volleyball got a 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-14) sweep of the Pratt Beavers on Wednesday evening at the Power Plant.
EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler volleyball got a 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-14) sweep of the Pratt Beavers on Wednesday evening at the Power Plant.
The Grizzlies (12-12, 4-4 KJCCC) are now .500 in both overall record and conference play. They got back in the win column after falling in five sets to Dodge City on the road Monday. Pratt moves to 5-15 and 2-6 in league play.
Set one was back and forth throughout and gave the impression it would be a close match as Butler squeaked by 25-22 to take a 1-0 lead. The Grizzlies hit a match-high .276 in the second set on the way to a dominating 25-13 win and closed it out with a 25-14 set three win.
Butler was led by sophomore Avery DeLong who slammed home 10 kills on .409 hitting. Sophomores Maggie Miller and Sarah Sullivan each had five kills with Miller adding eight digs and Sullivan five. Sophomore setter Anja Milosevic had a double-double of 23 assists and 13 digs while Laynee Brown led with 14 digs. Freshman Ryann Hamilton had three blocks.
Pratt was led by Francesca Battaglia who had eight kills while Natalie Martinez added 14 digs.
The Grizzlies return to action on Monday, Oct. 7th at 6 p.m. as first place Barton visits the Power Plant.
