Highland men's basketball team got back in the win column on Saturday with a 73-63 win over Hesston on sophomore day and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Gridlocked in a tight contest in the first half Highland continually held the led but Hesston stayed within striking distance. Scotties pushed the lead to 18-9 with just over 10 minutes left in the first half but the lead was unable to get to double figures as the game was worked to a 23-23 tie with just over four minutes left in the first half. Highland was able to swing the lead back in their hands and headed into intermission the Scotties led 32-29 over the Larks of Hesston.

Over the first five minutes of the second half the Scotties were able to stretch the lead to 10-points and take more control of the contest but Hesston continued to fight but not get any closer than seven points again. Scotties went on to grow the lead to as high as 17 points and earn the 10-point win 73-63.

Scotties shot 41.7% in the contest and won the rebounding battle 36-26. While Hesston shot 48.9% in the contest they had 15 turnovers and Highland turned those into 25 points, while the Scotties had just four turnovers in the contest.

Kendon Knight led Highland with 13 points going 10-12 from the free throw line as the Scotties were 17-23 from the line as a team. Rashon Johnson added 11 points with five rebounds, while both Dylan Vincent and Marquise Milton each tallied nine points.

The win moves the Scotties to 17-9 on the season and 4-4 in KJCCC action. Three games remain in the regular season for Highland as they host Southeast on Monday, February 17^th in a makeup game and then wrap up the regular season on the road with KJCCC contest against KCK and Fort Scott on Wednesday and Saturday, February 19^th and 22^nd.
