El Dorado, Kan. - The scenario was simple, win and you earn a share of the Title.  Well, that is exactly what the #8 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team did, they defeated the #10-ranked Butler Grizzlies 15-14 to earn a share of the 2024 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Football Championship.  With the victory, the Red Ravens share the Championship with Butler and Hutchinson as all three teams ended their 2024 KJCCC seasons with the same 5-1 conference record.

Against Butler, Coffeyville's first eight points came on a defensive safety combined with two 30-yard field goals by Red Raven freshman placekicker Roan McCarthy.

However, Coffeyville's first lead in the game came late in the fourth quarter as the Red Ravens took over the ball on their own 47-yard line trailing the Grizzlies of Butler 14-8 with 4:32 left in the game.  After a penalty and sack, Coffeyville faced a third and twenty which they promptly converted as freshman quarterback Joseph Vick scrambled for 24-yards to convert the first down.  Coffeyville was sitting on Butler's 39-yard line with a first and ten.  First down was a rush for no gain for the Red Ravens.  Second down was another rush for minimal gain.  On third down, the Red Ravens tried a pass that fell incomplete.  On a fourth and nine from Butler's 38-yard line with just over two minutes remaining, Coffeyville attempted a pass that fell incomplete, however, Butler was yellow-flagged for a 10-yard defensive holding penalty that gave new life to the Red Ravens with a first down.  Two plays later, Coffeyville's Vick connected with freshman wide receiver Jalile Bost for a 33-yard touchdown (Roan McCarthy's PAT Good) to give the Red Ravens a 15-14 lead with 1:41 left in the game.

After an initial short first down, the Red Raven defense stood strong as Butler could not connect through the air and the Grizzlies had four straight incompletions to give the ball back to Coffeyville with just 17 seconds remaining in the game.  Coffeyville had the  15-14 victory and a share of the 2024 KJCCC Conference Championship!

Coffeyville leaders in the game included quarterback Joseph Vick who was 17-31 for 180 yards and a touchdown, freshman running back Steven Robinson with 17 rushes for 92 yards, and freshman receiver 3 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.  Defensively, freshman linebacker Marquis Lane-Owens led the Ravens with 8 total tackles.
