Highland Women Finish First Half of KJCCC Play 5-0 With Win Over Fort Scott

Highland women's basketball team continues to roll as the Scotties cruised to 5-0 in KJCCC play on Wednesday night with a 90-32 win at home over Fort Scott.

Scotties with the win improved to 19-0 on the season, stretched their home win streak to 49-straight games and won their 18th straight game against Fort Scott.

After a slow start to the game that saw just a total of five points scored over the first five minutes of the game as Highland led 3-2, but the Scotties finished the first quarter out scoring Fort Scott 21-8 to lead 24-10 at the end of the first quarter. Highland headed into halftime holding a 35-16 advantage over the Greyhounds.

Scotties opened the second half on a 12-1 run and continued to grow their lead outscoring Fort Scott 31-7 in the third and 24-7 in the fourth quarter, while shooting over 50% from the floor in the second half. The strong second half performance pushed Highland to a lopsided victory 90-32.

Highland shot 43% on the night despite starting the game 1-7 from the field and dominated the boards 59-36, while piling up 22 steals and 20 assists on 37 made field goals.

Armani Turner paced Highland with 22 points adding three rebounds and four assists, while Charlay Conway and Tiana Gipson each added double figures. Conway tallied a career high 14 points and added six assists, seven rebounds and four steals, while Tiana Gipson chipped in 11 points and grabbed five rebounds and dished four assists.

The second portion of the Conference slate starts on Saturday, February 8th as the Scotties travel to Overland Park, Kansas for a showdown with #8 Johnson County.
