
The Pratt Community College volleyball team played four matches across two days and in two separate locations this past Friday, Sep. 13 and Saturday, Sep. 14. The Beavers played Northeast Community College and Range College on September 13 in Arkansas City, Kan. and then traveled up to Coffeyville, Kan. to face Vernon College and Coffeyville Community College. Pratt went two for four over the weekend.
The Beavers will travel to Dodge City Community College on Wednesday, Sep. 18 for a conference match before hosting Garden City Community College on Saturday, Sep. 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Beaver Dome.
Northeast Recap
In the first match of the weekend Northeast Community College emerged victorious with a 3-1 win. The match started off with a close first set, with Pratt taking an early lead. However, Northeast fought back and ultimately won the set 27-25. The Beavers bounced back in the second set, taking advantage of some errors to win 25-20.
In the third set, Northeast Community regained their momentum and won with a score of 25-15. They continued their performance in the fourth set, winning 25-20 and securing the overall victory. Northeast's standout players included Jayda Christensen with 14 kills, Mya Hedstrom with 12 kills, and Alex Arenas with 17 kills. Shaylyn Safranek also had 43 assists. However, Pratt saw strong performances from Francesca Battaglia with 9 kills and Sara Castrillon Vare with 8. Rylie Hallman also stood out with 31 assists.
Ranger Recap
Ranger College emerged victorious with a 3-1 win. The scores were 25-14, 22-25, 25-20, 28-26 in favor of Ranger College. Ranger College ended the match with 55 kills on 133 attempts, resulting in a hitting percentage of .301. The Beavers fought hard with 43 kills on 171 attempts, resulting in a hitting percentage of .111. Francesca Battaglia led the team with 14 kills, while Rylie Hallman recorded 36 assists.
Vernon Recap
In a contested match Vernon College faced Pratt, going the Beavers way with a final score of 3-2. Throughout the match, both teams displayed strong performances, with Pratt coming out on top. Savana Johnson of Pratt Community College led the team with 16 kills, while Francesca Battaglia contributed 13 kills. Rylie Hallman also played a key role with 38 assists.
Coffeyville Recap
The game started with Coffeyville taking the first set 25-21. However, Pratt quickly bounced back and won set two 25-22 with the Red Ravens winning the third set 28-26. Pratt closed out the match with two straight set of 25-14 and 15-2. Pratt's standout players included Savana Johnson with 11 kills, Francesca Battaglia with 13 kills, and Katy Beeman with 10 kills. Katelyn Kessler also contributed significantly with 22 assists.
