Statesmen No Threat to Scotties Undefeated Record

The Highland Women's Basketball team came out in dominating fashion in the first women's game of the HCC Classic. The JV Statesmen of William Penn University were no match up for the undefeated Scotties ending with a score of 108-33.

Highland nearly doubled every stat line compared to William Penn out-rebounding them 50-26, completing 28 assists to their 8, and had 29 steals to the Statesmen 2. Highland scored 61 of their points off of 46 forced turnovers. The Scottie defense held the Statesmen scoreless through most of the 3rd quarter going on a 35-0 run in the first eight minutes.

Niccolly Ramalho had a career high 19 points leading the offense also contributing five rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Sydney Brinlee had another double-double with a career high 17 total rebounds and 11 points. Freshman Tamia Victor had a stand-out game taking four charges, putting up eight points and grabbing six rebounds. Sophomores Mariane De Caravalho and Berniezha stayed consistent for the Scotties combining for 32 points and nine rebounds, eight assists, and nine steals. Blaize Burgess went 3-8 from behind the arc and putting up 14 points and six assists.

The Scotties are now 7-0 on the season and will host the Yellow jackets of Graceland University JV on day two of the HCC Classic at 3:00PM.
