Highland Women Improve to 4-0 With Win Over Grand View JV

After a bit of a test in the home opener earlier in the week the #12 Highland women's basketball team hosted another JV team that had picked up a win over a Junior college prior to playing the Scotties as Highland hosted Grand View University JV.

The Scotties had a battle on their hands but pushed their way to the 92-69 win at Ben Allen Fieldhouse.

Grand View opened the game with the initial basket of the contest but then missed their next six while the Scotties had a strong start offensively going 10-16 from the floor in the first quarter to lead 24-15 after one quarter. Highland used a 9-0 run to give themselves their first double figure lead in the first quarter.

Scotties added to the lead by halftime going up by as many as 22 in the first half and carrying a 47-32 lead over the Vikings of Grand View into intermission.

Highland initially added to the lead in the second half but the Vikings put together a run to draw within nine at 59-50 but the Scotties would end the third on an 8-1 run and lead 67-52. Scotties closed the game with a 25-17 fourth quarter to secure the 92-69 win over Grand View JV.

On the night Highland shot 49.3% from the floor, while holding Grand View to 38.6% from the floor and forced 27 Viking turnovers. Scotties notched 18 steals and had 24 assists on 34 made shots, while also winning the rebound battle 47-32.

Armani Turner dropped 21 points on 7-14 shooting adding four rebounds, while both Tiana Gipson and Kate Ogle both each added double figures. Gipson finished with 17 points and filled the stat line with nine assists, six rebounds and four steals, while Ogle had 10 points with five rebounds.
