KJCCC West Player of the Week: Jakob Poturnak - Cloud County Community College
Poturnak set a single-game school-record in the series finale against Garden City with 8 RBI with two home runs and four total hits accounting for the eight runs driven in. With four extra-base hits in the series, Poturnak recorded a slugging percentage of .944 and had hits in three of the four games of the series to lead CCCC to a sweep of the Broncbusters to secure an opening round home playoff series next week. On the season, Poturnak leads Cloud County with 28 extra-base hits, 52 RBI, and 16 home runs with the home run total ranking third in the KJCCC and RBI total ranking 13th in the conference. Poturnak also ranks fifth in total bases in the KJCCC with 123 and is in the top-20 in school history in single-season home runs (3rd), hits (20th), and RBI (15th).
KJCCC West Pitcher of the Week: Ethan Giesbrecht - Hutchinson Community College
Blue Dragon sophomore starting pitcher Ethan Giesbrecht became the first Blue Dragon pitcher to reach nine wins in a season since 2014 and help the Blue Dragons clinch a Jayhawk West championship in a Game 1 win over Barton last week. Giesbrecht three five innings of one-hit shutout baseball in a 7-2 league-clinching victory over Barton. He struck out four and walked two in pushing his season record to 9-2.
