KJCCC Baseball West Division Players of the Week - Week 2
COLBY, Kan. – A 3-1 series victory for Butler Community College was led by Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Player of the Week Brandt Beeby while Pitcher of the Week honors have been earned following a combined no-hitter that was started by Barton Community College pitcher Anthony Treto.
Brandt Beeby – Butler (KJCCC Baseball West Division Player of the Week)
Beeby had a strong offensive showing for Butler to help lead the Grizzlies to a series win on the road at North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas. Finishing the series by going five-for-10 (.500) at the plate, Beeby, drove in four runs and slugged .800 with a .643 on-base percentage. The sophomore had two multi-hit games in the three-game series, stole three bases, and had two home runs and two doubles against the Lions.
Anthony Treto – Barton (KJCCC Baseball West Division Pitcher of the Week)
Anthony Treto was sensational in his season debut helping the Cougars toss a seven-inning combined no-hitter in Barton's season opening 2-0 win at Rose State. Treto worked the opening four-innings surrendering just one walk while fanning five Raiders on his way to picking up his first win of the season. Handing the ball off to Antonio Mendez for the final three innings, the freshman reliever was lights out over the final three innings in way of securing his first collegiate save permitting just one base runner coming on a two-out walk in the seventh before preserving Barton's first no-hitter since 2014 with his second strikeout.
