COLBY, Kan. – A conference opening sweep for Johnson County Community College over Allen Community College was led last week by the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Baseball East Division Week 6 Players of the Week Bo Shinkle and Sam Novotny. 

Bo Shinkle – Johnson County (KJCCC Baseball East Division Player of the Week)
Johnson County freshman outfielder Bo Shinkle batted .692 (9-for-13) with two doubles, a triple, six runs, and five RBI while helping the Cavaliers sweep the four-game series against Allen in both team's conference openers. Shinkle also extended his streak to eight straight games. For the season, Shinkle is batting .456 with seven extra base hits and 17 RBI in 18 games played.

Sam Novotny – Johnson County (KJCCC Baseball East Division Pitcher of the Week)
Sam Novotny posted a dominating effort on the mound for the Cavaliers in their conference opening series with Allen. The sophomore right-hander held Allen to just one hit over five innings while striking out 10 batters. He also did not allow a walk. With the victory, Novotny improved to 2-1 in the season.
