KJCCC Baseball West Division Players of the Week - Week 3
COLBY, Kan. – Leading their teams to wins against teams that are ranked or receiving votes last week, Dodge City’s Juan Concepcion and Cloud County’s Caden Marcum have earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Baseball Player of the Week honors for week three.
Juan Concepcion – Dodge City (KJCCC Baseball West Division Player of the Week)
Dodge City baseball picked up two big wins in their first road trip of the season beating New Mexico and number 11 Weatherford in one-run games and started the season 6-0 (best start since 2016). The offense packed a powerful punch in the first two games of a three-game weekend for the Conquistadors. Juan Concepcion helped lead the charge offensively by going 6-13 with seven runs scored, seven RBI, three walks, a triple, and two home runs in three games. In the first game against New Mexico JC, Concepcion was 3-5 with three RBI, a triple, and two runs scored. Against number 11 Weatherford the redshirt freshman belted a pair of home runs and was 3-5 with four runs scored, four RBI, two walks, and two home runs.
Caden Marcum – Cloud County (KJCCC Baseball West Division Pitcher of the Week)
Sophomore right-hander Caden Marcum earned his first win of the season on the mound in Cloud County's 9-2, 7-inning road win over Seminole State College on February 14. Marcum pitched four innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out four and walking one.
