NJCAA Division 1 Baseball Preseason Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Ahead of Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference baseball teams starting their seasons next weekend, the KJCCC has three teams ranked and a fourth receiving votes in the NJCAA Division 1 Baseball preseason top 25 poll released on Monday, January 21st.
Two-time reigning KJCCC East Division and NJCAA Plains District Baseball Tournament Champion Johnson County is the highest-ranked team from the KJCCC by being ranked number five in the preseason poll with 168 total points. The Cavaliers went 53-13 last season which included a 28-4 mark in the KJCCC East Division while picking up one win at the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Baseball JUCO World Series. Joining JCCC from the KJCCC East Division in the rankings is number 20 ranked Cowley College as the Tigers will look to bounce back from a 43-18 overall record last season. Cowley has not won the NJCAA Plains District Tournament since 2022 when the Tigers dropped their opening game of the NJCAA Division 1 Baseball JUCO World Series before reeling off four-straight elimination game wins and eventually finishing as NJCAA Division 1 Baseball National Runners-Up.
The lone KJCCC West Division representative in the preseason top 25 poll is Hutchinson who is ranked number 23 after winning the KJCCC West Division title last season and finishing as NJCAA Plains District Tournament runners-up by winning five-straight elimination games after dropping their opening game of the tournament to Barton. Among a group of seven teams just outside the top 25 and receiving votes is Kansas City Kansas as the Blue Devils will look to build off last season’s 47-12 overall record and trip to the NJCAA Plains District Tournament.
The NJCAA Division 1 Baseball Week 1 poll will be released on Monday, February 24th as the regular season will get underway on Friday, January 31st for KJCCC teams. Polls will then be released weekly on Monday afternoons (Tuesday afternoons on weeks with National holidays on Mondays) through May 12th.
