Barton Joins Latest NJCAA Baseball Poll To Give KJCCC 4 Teams In Latest Rankings
NJCAA Division 1 Baseball Week 5 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Following battles of the top teams in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East and West Divisions last week, Barton Community College has joined Cowley, Johnson County, and Cloud County as KJCCC teams ranked or receiving votes to give the league four teams in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Baseball poll released on Monday, March 24th.
There was no shortage of change among KJCCC schools within the rankings after seeing Cowley College take three of four games over Johnson County in a battle of top 10 teams which allowed the Tigers to jump up to number five in this week’s poll as the highest-ranked KJCCC team. The Cavaliers see the 3-1 series loss lead to a nine-spot drop in the poll down to number 16 with JCCC holding a 22-9 overall record as six of their losses have come to teams that have been ranked this season.
Over in the KJCCC West Division, Barton Community College earned a 3-1 series win over previous division leader Cloud County to move from unranked up to number 23 in this week’s rankings as the Cougars are 17-5 overall and 10-2 in the KJCCC West Division. BCC took each of the first three games to run their win streak to eight straight games before dropping the series finale on the road as the Cougars have won 12 of their last 14 dating back to the start of conference play on March 6th. Cloud County on the other hand goes from being ranked for the first time last week to receiving votes as the Thunderbirds hold a 20-8 overall record and a 9-3 mark in the KJCCC West Division with a four-game series against Seward County on the schedule to close out the month of March.
