COLBY, Kan. – Seward County’s Matheus Ambrozio and Bruno Mestres have earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors after helping the Saints to a pair of wins last week.
Matheus Ambrozio (Seward County) – Ambrozio made history for the Saints in their win over Coffeyville as the first player in program history to record a hat trick in a game. His first goal of the night came in the first ten minutes off a penalty kick and later followed it up with a pair of rocket shots that landed in the back of the goal for a 4-1 win over the Red Ravens in KJCCC action.
Bruno Mestres (Seward County) – Mestres helped protect the goal and lead the Saints to two wins on the week with a total of eight saves. He recorded four saves in non-conference action against Tabor JV with only an own goal allowed from his defender. A few days later recording the same stat line in KJCCC action against Coffeyville, Mestres made four saves and allowed one goal given up off a penalty kick attempt to earn his fourth win of the year in net. Mestres now ranks fifth in the NJCAA in saves (55), save percentage (.917), and 13th in wins.
