COLBY, Kan. – Helping Neosho County clinch the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 men’s soccer regular-season title last week, Panther players Callum Niven and Grant Thackray have been named KJCCC D2 Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for week nine of the 2024 season.  

Callum Niven (Neosho County) – Niven scored six goals in last week's game against Southeast Community College and added the only goal of the match in a 1-0 home win against Allen to lead Neosho to a 2-0-0 week. Niven's six goals against Southeast came in a 9-0 Panther win against the Bobcats before netting the only goal in a 1-0 win on Saturday against Allen to help Neosho County clinch the KJCCC D2 men's soccer regular season title. After adding 14 points last week, Niven leads KJCCC D2 men's soccer in goals (15) and points (38).

Grant Thackray (Neosho County) – Thackray kept two opponents off the scoreboard last week as the sophomore made seven saves to keep two clean sheets. The 1-0 win in the second match of the week for the Panthers against Allen led Neosho County to the KJCCC D2 men's soccer regular season title as Thackray posted three shutouts in conference play this season.
