CHARLOTTE, NC – With the NJCAA releasing its week seven Division 1 and 2 Men’s Soccer Top 20 polls, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has three teams checking in with top 10 rankings ahead of the final two weeks of the regular season.
Two of the three teams to be ranked this week within the KJCCC are featured in the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer poll with Neosho County holding the highest ranking of any conference school by maintaining their number five ranking following a pair of non-conference wins last week. With four games remaining in the regular season, the Panthers have two matches left within the KJCCC while holding a one-point lead in the conference standings heading into this week’s action. Also maintaining their ranking in the latest Division 2 poll is number eight ranked Johnson County as the Cavaliers held on for a 4-3 road win at Allen followed by an 8-0 win over Hesston last week as the Cavaliers have seen their three losses this season come to teams ranked in the top five of the latest NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer rankings. JCCC will conclude their regular season this week, playing a road conference match at Pratt before heading to Southeast to conclude their regular season.
Within the latest NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer poll, Cowley moves up one spot from number eight up to seventh as the Tigers earned a 1-0 home win in their only match last week over Dodge City ahead of a pair of road matches this week. Cowley currently leads the KJCCC Division 1 men’s soccer standings and can secure at least a share of the KJCCC regular season title with a result on Wednesday evening at Coffeyville Community College.
Five matches scheduled for Wednesday will kick off the week’s action in the KJCCC as all three ranked teams will be in action with road matches along with five other KJCCC schools. A six-match schedule on Saturday will then close out the week of action across the conference with the week highlighted by Cowley heading to Great Bend for a 1 PM kickoff at Barton while Neosho County will have a chance to secure a KJCCC regular season title on Saturday at home against Allen.
