CHARLOTTE, NC – In addition to having three teams ranked in the top 10 of the latest NJCAA Division 1 and 2 Men’s Soccer rankings, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has two additional teams receiving votes for a total of five teams ranked or receiving votes in the week four polls of the 2024 season.
Two of the three teams that are ranked this week come in the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer poll while Cowley is the lone ranked team from the conference in the NJCAA Division 1 poll with both Barton and Kansas City Kansas Community College both receiving votes.
Both Neosho and Johnson County maintain their rankings from last week’s movement as the Panthers continue to hold the number seven national ranking following a 1-1 road tie at Central Community College and a 6-0 home win over Southeast as part of district action last week. The Cavaliers are once again ranked eighth after a 5-1 road win at Hesston and 3-1 home win over Pratt to move to 7-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the KJCCC to remain atop the KJCCC Division 2 soccer standings.
Cowley is ranked fourth for a third-straight week while being ranked no lower than fourth throughout this season as the Tigers earned a 2-0 win in their lone contest to be completed last week. Cowley’s second game of the week against Kansas City Kansas was suspended in the 61st minute due to weather and is scheduled to be resumed on Monday, September 30th. The Blue Devils are receiving votes for the first time this season despite being unbeaten on the year at 3-0-2 following a 2-1 win over Barton at home last week. KCKCC has outscored opponents 9-3 this season with the goal differential of plus six in conference matches. Barton meanwhile falls from the rankings but is still receiving votes this week after bouncing back from their loss to KCKCC with a 2-0 home win over Garden City to move to 6-3-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the KJCCC. The Cougars have home matches against Seward County and Dodge City on the schedule this week before seeing three of their following four matches come in non-conference play.
A top-five non-conference matchup highlights this week’s schedule in the conference as number four Cowley will host number three and unbeaten Indian Hills at 1 PM on Wednesday afternoon while the remaining teams that are ranked or receiving votes will play unranked foes. Saturday will then see Barton look to avenge an earlier season loss to Dodge City while Seward County and KCKCC matchup following a scoreless draw earlier this year.
