CHARLOTTE, NC – Only one change occurred week-over-week for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men's soccer teams with five schools from the conference represented in the week 5 NJCAA Division 1 and 2 Men's Soccer Top 20 polls released on Monday, September 30th.
As part of the change, the KJCCC sees no difference from the week four poll in their number of top 10 ranked teams as three of the five teams that are ranked or receiving votes remain inside the top 10 of their respective polls.
Moving from receiving votes back into the rankings is number 20 ranked Barton as the Cougars went 2-0-0 last week with home wins over Seward County and Dodge City to improve to 8-3-0 on the year. Also in this week's NJCAA Division 1 men's soccer poll is number four Cowley who did not see a change to their ranking after falling 3-2 at home to newly number one ranked Indian Hills last week to suffer their first defeat of the year while Kansas City Kansas remains among those receiving votes despite dropping a 3-1 road decision at Garden City last week.
In the NJCAA Division 2 men's soccer poll, both teams from the KJCCC remain inside the top 10 and move up one spot each with Neosho County moving up to number six and Johnson County climbing up to number seven as the two teams hold a combined 14-3-2 record this season. The Panthers earned a 1-1 draw at Allen before winning 5-0 over Hesston last week while Johnson County won their lone game of the week last week 1-0 over Southeast.
Big matches in both KJCCC D1 and D2 play are set to take place this week with number 20 Barton playing host to top-ranked Indian Hills at 10 AM on Thursday, October 3rd in their first of two non-conference matches against top 10 foes scheduled in the next 8 days. Saturday features a rematch between number six ranked Neosho County and number seven ranked Johnson County with the Panthers making the trip to Overland Park after earning a 4-2 win earlier this season at home over the Cavaliers.
