JCCC sophomore midfielder Kelsey Wakefield help lead No. 16 JCCC to
a pair of wins last week. She began the week by scoring a hat trick
in a 9-0 win over Independence. She scored the 1st, 3rd and 7th
goals for the Lady Cavaliers. She capped the week with a goal and
an assist in a 6-1 win at Cowley. Her assist led to what proved to

JCCC freshman forward Jorge Rivero had another key week for the
Cavaliers. Rivero scored three goals and added two assists in wins
over Independence and Cowley. Against Indy, Rivero had a goal and
assist in a 4-1 win. Against Cowley, Rivero played a part in all
three JCCC goals, scoring twice and assisting on the

Freshman Bailey Shupe notched her second- and third-straight
shutouts in a pair of victories over Hesston College and Neosho
County last week. Shupe stopped all six shots sent in on goal,
including a season-high four saves against Hesston College. Shupe,
now 5-0, has a goals-against average of 0.40 and a save percentage

Anchoring a young and inexperienced defensive line, Mauricio Vargas
continues to help develop and lead the team not always evident in
his statistics. However this past week, Vargas’
statistics clearly displayed his dominance in goal helping the
Cougars to two shutout road conference victories.
Vargas not only recorded 19 saves in two games but made
numerous great out-of-goal plays on crosses and potential threats
to help protect the shutouts. For the season Vargas has four
shutouts and fourteen in his career, moving him to within one of
