KJCCC Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week - Week 6
COLBY, Kan. – National qualifying times and marks along with a school record has led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for Hutchinson Community College sophomore Farrin Mangelson and Cloud County Community College sophomore Josh Shelly.
Farrin Mangelson (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Hutchinson sophomore distance runner Farrin Mangelson broke the school record in the men's 3,000 meters on Saturday at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka with a time of 8:19.75. He finished third in the event. Mangelson currently has the best time in the event in Region 6. He is also a two-event qualifier for nationals, in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters. The school record is the second Blue Dragon record Mangelson has broken this season, also breaking the 5,000-meters record.
Josh Shelly (Cloud County) – KJCCC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Shelly set a new personal record in the weight throw, recording a mark of 52 ft. - 2 in. to qualify for the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with his mark ranking in the top 10 of the NJCAA this season.
