KJCCC Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week - Week 7
COLBY, Kan. – After earning NJCAA Region 6 Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet High Point Athlete of the Meet and Field Athlete of the Meet honors, Butler Community College sophomore Ishmael Acheampong and Barton Community College sophomore Trevon Hamer have earned the final Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards of the season.
Ishmael Acheampong (Butler) – KJCCC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Acheampong was named the 2025 NJCAA Region 6 Men's High Point Athlete of the Meet for his performance by scoring 22 points across three events. The sophomore won the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.01 while placing third in the 600 meters (1:19.59) and the 1000 meters (2:32.68) with the times in the 600 meters and 800 meters serving as national qualifying marks. Acheampong helped lead Butler to a third-place Region 6 finish and a KJCCC East Division runner-up finish.
Trevon Hamer (Barton) – KJCCC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Hamer was named the NJCAA Region 6 Championships Men's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the triple jump and taking second in the long jump with both marks setting personal bests. His mark of 16.25 meters in the triple jump tied a facility record at the Robert W. Plaster Center and also broke the meet record that was previously held by former Olympian and NJCAA Track and Field Hall of Fame member Melvin Lister.
