FLANAGAN, SUIED NAMED LEAGUE RUNNERS OF THE WEEK
Hutchinson Community College men's runner Teagan Flanagan and Cowley College women's runner Suied Lubna were named Jayhawk Conference Cross Country on Monday after victories at the Red Devil Duals hosted by Allen Community College in Iola.
After back-to-back runner-up finishes, Hutchinson's Flanagan captured his first career collegiate victory with a 22-second victory on Saturday at the Red Devils Duals. Flanagan, a sophomore from Kingman, covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:07, the 11th-fastest time in Hutchinson men's cross country history. Flanagan also helped the NJCAA Division I, No. 2-ranked Blue Dragons to a runner-up finish.
Suied was named the league's Women's Runner of the Week for the second time this season. She took charge of the Red Devil Relays early and cruised to a 53-second victory, her second of the 2020 season. Suied, a sophomore from Tomball, Texas, posted a 5,000-meter time of 19:09 and helped the NJCAA Division II top-ranked Tigers to a third-place team finish.
