Cloud County garners two team titles in El Dorado
(KJCCC) October 30, 2020 – The Cloud County women dominated the 2020 KJCCC/Region VI Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 30 in El Dorado. Cloud women placed five runners in the top nine spots to win the Division I team title.
The women's race was won by Cowley College's Lubna Suied. Suied finished in 18:05.27. The Cowley women won the Division II team championship.
One the men's side, Awet Beraki of Cloud County won the race with a time of 24:24.56. Cloud won the men's Division I title. The Cowley College men won the team title (Division II) of the 8k race.
The meet was hosted by Butler Community College on the American Legion golf course adjacent to the Butler football stadium.
The races were moved from Wednesday, October 28 due to impending ice storms scheduled for race day. "We didn't want to run in freezing rain or ice," said Shane Larson, Region VI women's director and Cowley College athletic director.
