KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 2
COLBY, Kan. – For the second-straight week, a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 softball team has swept the weekly awards with Colby Community College’s Sofia Valenti and Alana Proskow earning honors in week two of the 2025 season.
Sofia Valenti – Colby (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Valenti had a big opening week for the Trojans, helping Colby start the season 3-0 with two wins over number 25 ranked Trinidad State. Finishing the week with a .583 batting average, Valenti had seven hits in 12 at bats with two doubles, one home run, and two runs driven in. The sophomore also scored five times and had eight defensive putouts which included being part of two double plays.
Alana Proskow – Colby (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Proskow started in the circle in two of Colby's three games last week to open the season and picked up one pitching victory after throwing 6.1 innings and striking out 12 batters across the two games. In a 5-4 win against Northeastern Junior College, Proskow struck out 10 and allowed just three total hits before throwing two shutout innings in an 18-2 victory over Trinidad State College to close out the week.
