KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 3
COLBY, Kan. – The first repeat winner for the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week honors along with a first-time honoree for Player of the Week highlight the week three awards with Garden City’s Maria Avendano Fori and Colby’s Alana Proskow picking up this week’s awards.
Maria Avendano Fori – Garden City (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Avendano Fori helped the Broncbusters to a road sweep of Lamar Community College, hitting .857 at the plate (6-7) with five extra-base hits, nine runs driven in, and one stolen base. In the first game of the doubleheader, the sophomore went three-for-four with a double, a home run, and stolen base as GCCC won 10-2. Capping off the day with a 22-1 thrashing of the Lopes, Avendano Fori had a hit in all three at-bats with two doubles and a home run.
Alana Proskow – Colby (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Proskow earned her second straight KJCCC D1 Softball Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing a complete-game one-hitter and striking out nine in Colby's 3-0 win over Otero Junior College on February 14th. This season, Proskow is 2-0 in the circle with 13.1 innings pitched and a 1.05 ERA with 21 total strikeouts.
