KJCCC Division 1 Softball Players of the Week - Week 5
COLBY, Kan. – A perfect 4-0 start in Kansas Jayhawk Community College play for Barton Community College last week was led by the 2025 KJCCC Division 1 Softball Week five Players of the Week Karter Alvord and Meleia Ingram.
Karter Alvord – Barton (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Player of the Week)
Batting .667 with five RBI out of the nine hole, Karter Alvord led the Cougars to a four-pack of victories last week to begin KJCCC play. Collecting at least two hits in each of the four games, the freshman shortstop was five-of-seven with three RBI, including a double and her first collegiate home run in the sweep over Seward County. Three days later at Colby, Alvord went five-for-eight with another double and pair of RBI to help the Cougars complete its second straight conference sweep of the season.
Meleia Ingram - Barton (KJCCC Division 1 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Freshman pitcher Meleia Ingram struck out 19, going 2-0 with a save in recording a decision in three of the Cougars' four conference opening victories last week. Moving up into the number one starting role, Ingram struck out eight while allowing just two hits in her KJCCC debut last Wednesday when the Cougars hosted Seward County. On the back end of the twin bill, Ingram struck out four in two innings of relief to earn her second save of the year. On Saturday, Ingram struck out another 7 batters in game one, helping Barton to a road sweep of Colby.
