KJCCC Division 2 Softball Players of the Week - Week 4
COLBY, Kan. – Two first-time winners of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Softball Player of the Week awards highlight our week four winners of the 2025 season with Johnson County’s Katie Kolarik and Highland’s Makenzie Leake closing out the month of February with conference accolades.
Katie Kolarik – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Player of the Week)
Johnson County freshman Katie Kolarik hit .615 (8-for-13) and slugged 1.462 with two doubles, three home runs, four runs scored, and seven RBI at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia. In the opening game against nationally ranked Pearl River, Kolarik belted two home runs which included a solo shot in the third inning and a three-run blast in the fifth inning to drive in four runs in an 11-10 loss. The freshman had at least one hit in each game last week and is currently hitting .560 this season with 17 runs driven in.
Makenzie Leake - Highland (KJCCC Division 2 Softball Pitcher of the Week)
Leake came on in relief for Highland in the back end of a road doubleheader at Metropolitan and threw the final three innings which included two innings of extra-innings play and picked up the win after allowing one run on four hits.
