Four KJCCC Softball Teams Ranked In NJCAA Preseason Polls

CHARLOTTE, NC – Four Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference softball teams have earned a preseason ranking with one more receiving votes with the NJCAA Division 1 and 2 softball preseason polls being released on Monday, January 21st.
Two teams are ranked in both the NJCAA Division 1 softball poll and Division 2 softball poll with Johnson County holding the highest ranking of any KJCCC softball team by holding the number six ranking in the Division 2 preseason poll after finishing as NJCAA Plains District runners-up and receiving an at-large berth to the NJCAA Division 2 Softball World Series where the Cavaliers went 2-2 in Spartanburg, S.C. Joining JCCC in the NJCAA Division 2 softball preseason poll is Kansas City Kansas as the Blue Devils are ranked number 19 heading into the season with Neosho County listed as one of four teams receiving votes in the poll with both teams finishing in the top-five of the final KJCCC D2 softball standings last season.
The highest-ranked team from the KJCCC in the NJCAA Division 1 softball preseason poll is perennial power Butler Community College as the Grizzlies are ranked number 14 in the preseason poll following a 47-10 season last year that saw BCC finish as NJCAA Plains District runners-up. Butler was picked to win the KJCCC Division 1 softball preseason poll and has won 14 of the last 17 KJCCC Division 1 softball regular season titles and qualified for the NJCAA Division 1 Softball World Series in seven of the last eight tournaments that have been hosted. Reigning NJCAA Division 1 Softball Plains District Tournament Champion Hutchinson has been picked preseason number 22 after advancing to the NJCAA Division 1 Softball World Series and earning their first World Series win in program history last year.
The NJCAA Softball Week 1 polls will be released on Monday, February 24th as the regular season will get underway on Friday, January 31st for the conference. Polls will then be released weekly on Monday afternoons (Tuesday afternoons on weeks with National holidays on Mondays) through May 5th before the start of postseason play.
