Minor Movement Among KJCCC Softball Teams Highlight Week Five NJCAA Softball Polls
NJCAA Division 1 Softball Week 5 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Softball Week 5 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – As the NJCAA softball schedule enters its final week of March play, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference continues to have five teams hold down spots in the latest NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 softball top 25 polls following the release of the Week 5 polls on Monday, March 24th.
One ranked team in the latest Division 1 poll along with another receiving votes gives the KJCCC a pair of teams featured in the D1 poll to go along with two ranked teams in the Division 2 poll and one more team receiving votes ahead of the start of conference play later this week.
In the Division 1 poll, Butler Community College fell three spots after splitting three doubleheaders last week which included a pair of doubleheaders with Dodge City and Barton. The Grizzlies entered this week’s action with a 15-5 overall record and an 8-4 mark in KJCCC play ahead of another six-game week that will see BCC close out the first half of their KJCCC schedule with doubleheaders against Pratt and Fort Hays Tech Northwest. Receiving votes in the poll for a second-straight week is Hutchinson as the Blue Dragons are currently tied for the KJCCC conference lead with a 13-1 mark in conference play and a 19-5 overall record after running their winning streak to 10 straight games with sweeps over Garden City and Dodge City.
Not much change to speak of for KJCCC schools in the Division 2 poll as well with Johnson County remaining the highest-ranked conference school despite falling one spot down to 17th after splitting their only action last week against number 19 ranked Iowa Central Community College to hold a 13-10 overall record heading into KJCCC play. Ranked number 20 for a second-straight week is Neosho County after splitting a road doubleheader at Barton and in Chanute against Rose State last week. Among those receiving votes is Kansas City Kansas following a 3-3-week last week as the Blue Devils split with Jefferson College at home, swept Metropolitan Community College, and dropped a pair of games to Iowa Central Community College to close out their week.
