    Johnson County sophomore guard Krystal Rice led the No. 7-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a pair of victories last week. She averaged 22.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in JCCC’s two wins. She began the week scoring a career high 29 points in a 94-63 win over Hesston. Rice was 8-of-14 from 3-point range in the game which tied the third-best single game effort in team history. She capped the wee with 15 points and five boards in a 73-59 win over No. 15 Kansas City Kansas. For the season, Rice had made 73 shots beyond the arch, second-most in the conference.

    Johnson County sophomore guard Krystal Rice led the No. 8-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a pair of victories for nationally ranked programs last week. She averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. She also hit 55 percent of her field goal attempts, including 50 percent beyond the 3-point arc, and 83 percent at the free throw line. In JCCC’s 90-75 win over No. 3 Highland, Rice poured in 26 points, her second best career total, and pulled down a career high seven rebounds.

    Highland sits atop the KJCCC after the first week of Conference play beating #4 Johnson County at home and #11 Labette. Sophomore, Erin Randle helped set the tone for the Scotties in KJCCC matchups putting together some top notch performances. Randle opened Conference play with a massive double-double tallying 15 points on 6-15 shooting and grabbed a career high 17 rebounds, while adding three assists and five blocks. The Houston, Texas native added to that performance by helping the Scotties beat Labette on Saturday with a 16 point performance on 7-11 shooting adding six rebounds and two blocks. On the season Randle is averaging 9.8 points per game on 63.6% shooting, while adding 9.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. She ranks second in the Nation in field goal percentage, while leading the KJCCC. Randle also leads the Conference in rebounds per game and second in total blocks.

    Highland women’s basketball remained unbeaten on the season beating Hesston on the road and #8 KCK at home by wide margins to improve to 18-0 on the season and 4-0 in KJCCC. Sophomore, Erin Randle continues to leave an imprint on the game for the Scotties. Randle tallied nine points hitting, grabbed eight rebounds and had four steals in the win on the road against Hesston as the Scotties glided past Hesston. The Houston native then posted a career best 25 points on 11-14 shooting including hitting just her second and third career three-pointers in college. She also grabbed 11 rebounds giving her a double-double for the seventh time this season and finished out her stat line with two assists, two steals and three blocks. On the season Randle is averaging 10.6 points per game on 66.4% shooting, while adding 9.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.6 steals and two blocks per game. Randle leads the Nation in field goal percentage, while ranking second in the KJCCC in rebounds and blocks per game.

    The #6 Highland women’s basketball team heads into the holiday break with a perfect 13-0 record after picking up a home win over Metropolitan (86-44) and road win over Missouri Baptist JV (86-58). Sophomore, Tiana Gipson continues to highlight the season for the Scotties as she dropped 27 and 30 point performances. Gipson tallied 27 points on 10-18 shooting including 6-14 from three in the win over MCC adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals. She followed that up with her eighth 30+ point performance of her career with 30 points on 11-18 shooting including 8-13 from three adding four rebounds, two assists and three steals. On the season Gipson is averaging 24 points per game on 49.8% shooting including 42.9% from three-point range, she’s added 2.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and four steals per game. The sophomore leads the Nation in NJCAA DII in made three-pointers with 67 which is 17 more than the second most. She also ranks second in total field goals made with 110 and total points with 312, while ranking third in points per game and steals (52). Also ranks 14th in the Nation in steals per game.

    It was a career performance from sophomore, Erin Randle that helped guide Highland to a road win over Metropolitan CC as she posted her fourth double-double with career high marks in points, rebounds and blocks. Randle tallied 19 points on 9-12 shooting, while grabbing 14 rebounds and swatted six shots in the road win, adding an assist and a steal posting the performance in her fifth straight start. On the season Randle is averaging 7.9 points per game on 64.4% shooting, she’s added 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. The sophomore ranks sixth in the Nation in field goal percentage (64.4%) and 13th in rebounds per game (10.4).

    Earlier this season, sophomore guard Dallie Hoskinson became the first player in Johnson County women’s basketball history to register two triple-doubles in one season. Last Tuesday night she upped that total to three. Hoskinson posted 10 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists to help power the No. 2-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a 97-67 road victory over Southwestern Community College. She was 5-of-9 shooting and grabbed seven offensive and eight defensive boards. For the season she averaging 10.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.

    Johnson County freshman forward LaJahda Boyland averaged a double-double of 12.5 points and 15.5 rebounds while leading the No. 2-ranked Lady Cavaliers to two victories last week. Boyland opened the week with 13 points and 11 rebounds in 18 minutes of action in a 111-34 win over Missouri Valley JV. She capped the week with 12 points and 20 rebounds in a 76-64 win over St. Louis CC. Her 20 rebounds tie the 15th-best game in team history. For the season, Boyland is averaging a double-double of 10.6 points and 12.6 rebounds.

    The #12 Highland women’s basketball team kept the season rolling picking up a pair of wins over JV teams that beat other NJCAA schools improving to 4-0. Sophomore, Armani Turner highlighted the performances putting together one of the best individual games in Highland history. Turner dropped 40 points in the Highland 82-63 win over Concordia JV shooting 13-24 in the contest, while going 6-12 from three-point range and 8-11 from the free throw line. She scored 33 of her 40 points in the second half and added three rebounds and five steals. She followed that up with a 21 point performance in the 92-69 win over Grand View JV adding four rebounds, an assist and two steals, while only recording two turnovers in the two games. On the year Turner has started all four games for the Scotties and is averaging 21.3 points per game on 52.5% shooting, while adding 2.3 rebounds per game, 1.3 assists per game and 3.3 steals per game.
