Highland, Johnson County Qualify For NJCAA Division 2 Women's Basketball National Tournament

CHARLOTTE NC – Highland Community College and Johnson County Community College will both represent the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference at the 2025 NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Tournament following the official bracket reveal by the NJCAA national office on Tuesday, March 11th.
Winners of the NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament and automatic berth into the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament, the Scotties have received the number eight seed in the 20-team tournament and will play in the National Tournament for the first time since 2018 when they take on ninth-seed Mesa Community College in game nine at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 18th.
Johnson County received one of four at-large berths into the National Tournament and have received the number four seed and will await the winner of an opening round game between number 13 seed Schoolcraft College and number 20 seed North Platte Community College with the Cavaliers tipping off their national tournament at 9 AM on Tuesday, March 18th. The Cavaliers are making their fifth-straight trip to the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament, advancing to the Elite Eight in each of their most recent appearances in the tournament.
Other teams on the same side of the bracket as Highland and Johnson County include top-seeded and reigning National Champion Kirkwood Community College, fifth-seeded Union College (New Jersey), 12th-seeded Illinois Central, 16th-seeded SUNY Niagara, and 17th-seeded Rock Valley College. If both teams win their first two games of the National Tournament, Highland and Johnson County could meet up for a fourth time this season, with a final four matchup taking place on Friday, March 21st, at 6 PM.
All games of the 2025 NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Tournament will take place at the Leggett and Platt Athletic Center on the campus of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri, and will be streamed live on the NJCAA Network (www.njcaa.org/network).
