KJCCC Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 14
COLBY, Kan. – Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for week 14 have been earned by Hutchinson’s Hailey Jackson and Johnson County’s Taliyah Scott as the duo helped their teams to unbeaten weeks last week.
Hailey Jackson - Hutchinson (KJCCC Division 1 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Hutchinson sophomore forward Hailey Jackson averaged 27 points per game and joined the Blue Dragon career Top 10 scorers in a pair of victories last week. Jackson averaged 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as number eight Hutchinson defeated Garden City and Cloud County. Against Garden City, Jackson scored a career-high 32 points on 11-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds in a 66-53 road win at Garden City. With that performance, Jackson moved into the Career Scoring Top 10. Two days later, Jackson had 22 points and nine rebounds to lift the Dragons to a 71-66 home win over Cloud County and continues to lead the KJCCC in scoring at 18.6 points per game.
Taliyah Scott – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week)
JCCC sophomore guard Taliyah Scott played a key role last week leading her team to a pair of comeback victories over two nationally ranked teams as the Cavaliers defeated number eight Highland on the road before earning an overtime win over number 11 Allen at home. Scott averaged 10.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 2.0 steals for the week as Johnson County clinched at least a share of the KJCCC regular season title.
