Hutchinson, Johnson County Lead KJCCC Teams In NJCAA Women's Basketball Preseason Polls
CHARLOTTE, NC – Led by NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball defending National Champion Hutchinson Community College and NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Runner-Up Johnson County Community College, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has six women’s basketball programs representing the conference in the NJCAA Division 1 and 2 women’s basketball preseason top 25 polls released on Monday, October 21st.
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – Led by NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball defending National Champion Hutchinson Community College and NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Runner-Up Johnson County Community College, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has six women’s basketball programs representing the conference in the NJCAA Division 1 and 2 women’s basketball preseason top 25 polls released on Monday, October 21st.
With two teams in the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Top 25 poll and four more ranked or receiving votes in the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Top 25 poll, the conference is once again expected to play a role in National Title conversations in both divisions as one of the toughest conferences in NJCAA women’s basketball. Rounding out the top five of the Division 1 poll are Wabash Valley, Eastern Arizona, and Three Rivers (Missouri) as all five teams advanced to the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball National Tournament Quarterfinals last season.
Also ranked from the KJCCC in the Division 1 poll is 2024 NJCAA National Tournament qualifier Dodge City Community College as the Conquistadors are ranked 14th in the preseason poll after going 27-7 last season and falling 69-68 to Wabash Valley in the second round of the National Tournament.
Not to be outdone in the rankings, three additional teams from the KJCCC are ranked and a fourth receiving votes in the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball preseason poll led by number two ranked Johnson County Community College as the Cavaliers trail only reigning National Champion Kirkwood Community College in the preseason poll. JCCC went 34-1 overall last season, falling 69-58 in the National Title game to Kirkwood as the Eagles won their ninth title in program history. Crosstown rival Kansas City Kansas Community College is ranked 13th following a 22-10 overall record last season and third-place finish in the KJCCC Division 2 standings as the Blue Devils fell 55-50 in the Region 6 Championship game to Johnson County to end their season last year.
Joining Johnson County and KCKCC in the rankings is number 19 ranked Allen Community College as the Red Devils went 22-6 last season and finished second in the KJCCC standings while Highland Community College is receiving votes in the preseason poll following a 17-14 record under first-year head coach Saundra Proctor who will enter her second season with the Scotties.
The NJCAA Women’s Basketball Week 1 polls will be released on Tuesday, November 12th as the regular season will get underway on Friday, November 1st. Polls will then be released weekly on Monday afternoons (Tuesday afternoons on weeks with National holidays on Mondays) through December 16th before starting up again on January 6th and running through March 11th before the start of postseason play.
