KJCCC Women's Hoops Enters Holiday Break With Seven Teams Ranked Or Receiving Votes
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Week 6 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Week 6 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – With action slowing down for the holiday break and few teams set to play over the coming the weeks of play, the NJCAA has released their final NJCAA Division 1 and 2 women’s basketball polls until after the new year begins with seven teams from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference ranked or receiving votes in the latest poll released on Monday, December 16th.
Of the seven teams ranked or receiving votes this week, three are ranked inside the top five of their respective polls as the conference continues to have at least one team ranked in the top two of every poll that has been released this season.
In the NJCAA Division 1 poll, Hutchinson continues to be the unanimous number one team as the Blue Dragons extended their winning streak to 50 consecutive games last week after escaping with a home win over Garden City before closing out the month of December with a win at Cloud County. Following HCC is a pair of undefeated teams in Northwest Florida State and New Mexico Junior College followed by Dodge City in the number four ranking, the highest ranking in program history for the Conquistadors who are 12-1 overall with their only loss coming to New Mexico JC. Winners of four straight following back-to-back road defeats to end the month of November, Butler is back in the list of those receiving votes as the Grizzlies are now 10-2 overall and 5-2 in the KJCCC with their only losses coming at Dodge City and at Seward County who is 10-3 overall.
Just one change for the conference took place in the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball poll with Johnson County still the highest-ranked team from the KJCCC as the number two team in the country entering the extended holiday break with a 14-0 record and nearly a month between games after having last played on December ninth and not scheduled to play again until January 5th. Joining the Cavaliers in the top 12 are the KJCCC’s other two remaining undefeated teams in Highland who is ranked seventh for a fifth-straight week while Allen has continually climbed up the rankings and is up another two spots this week to hold the number 11 ranking with an 11-0 mark. Neosho County gives the KJCCC four ranked teams this week in the Division 2 poll as the Panthers are ranked 20th and off to a 10-2 start this season with just one more game scheduled before opening KJCCC play at Johnson County on January 11th.
