KJCCC Women's Basketball Keeps Seven Teams In Latest NJCAA Rankings
NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Week 13 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Week 13 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – For a second-straight week, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference saw no changes to the number of teams or order teams from the conference featured in the latest NJCAA Division 1 and 2 Women’s Basketball polls with seven ranked teams and an eighth receiving votes in the latest polls released on Monday, February 24th.
Just like last week’s release of the polls, minor movements for a few of the teams highlight the changes across the conference with no change in the order of the rankings of teams as three of the seven ranked teams were able to hold their ranking from the prior week while no team moved more than three spots among those that saw a change to their ranking.
In the NJCAA Division 1 women’s basketball poll, Dodge City maintained their number seven ranking after picking up a pair of wins last week over foes from Northwest Kansas to reclaim a one-game lead in the KJCCC Division 1 standings with three games to play. The first change saw Hutchinson fall three spots from eighth down to 11th after a mid-week loss to Cowley College in Arkansas City as the Blue Dragons bounced back over the weekend to knock off Butler Community College at home. Coffeyville saw a two-spot drop down to 18th after moving up the prior week to their best ranking of the season at number 16 as the Red Ravens fell at home to Butler to go along with a road win at Pratt. Butler is still among those receiving votes despite the road loss to Hutchinson as the two-game week that featured ranked foes led to a 1-1 week for the Grizzlies with a road win at Coffeyville.
Johnson County is now one of just two unbeaten teams in NJCAA Division 2 women’s basketball this season as the Cavaliers maintain the same ranking that they’ve held all year by being ranked number two this week with JCCC having one game remaining in their quest for a second-straight unbeaten regular season. Up one spot this week to eighth is Highland as the Scotties have secured a first-round home game in the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament while Allen maintains their number 12 ranking after winning their only game played last week with a 67-36 home win over Kansas City Kansas. The KJCCC also has Neosho County in the rankings as the Panthers moved up three spots to number 22 with the Panthers sporting an 18-7 overall record this season.
The regular season for Division 2 schools will conclude on Wednesday evening as part of the upcoming league schedule with a game that features both conference and national rankings implications coming tonight when Allen hosts Highland in a game that was postponed last Wednesday night. The final nine-game slate of the season comes on Wednesday before seeing Division 1 schools continue to play on Saturday with a six-game slate that is highlighted by a rematch between Coffeyville and Dodge City as the Conquistadors will look to avenge one of their only two conference losses this season and be able to hold a win over every other conference team this season.
