Johnson County Women's Basketball Wins KJCCC Regular Season Title, Earns Top Seed In Region 6 Tournament

COLBY, Kan. – For the fifth consecutive season, the Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team has won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Women’s Basketball regular season title to earn the number one seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Finishing their second-straight regular season with a 30-0 record, the Cavaliers have now won 65 straight regular season contests dating back to February 16, 2023, as JCCC picks up their 10th regular season conference crown under 17th-year head coach Ben Conrad. The Cavaliers finished the KJCCC slate with a perfect 14-0 mark while outscoring teams by an average of 40 points per contest with only two of their conference games decided by single digits.
Three teams tied for second in the final regular season standings with Allen, Highland, and Neosho County all finishing the year with a 10-4 mark in conference games and securing opening round home games in the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament. Following the tiebreaker procedure for seeding purposes, Allen was awarded the two seed followed by Neosho County as the three seed and Highland as the four seed. All three teams are ranked in the top 20 of the latest NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Top 25 poll with the conference looking to secure multiple bids to the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Tournament.
The 2025 NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament will begin on Monday, March 3rd with three opening round games taking place on campus sites of the higher seed. Johnson County will receive an opening round bye to the semifinals with only seven conference teams completing a conference season as the Cavaliers will begin their postseason at 1 PM on Friday, March 7th. In opening round action, two seed Allen will host seventh-seeded Hesston at 6 PM in Iola, three seed Neosho County will host six-seed Fort Scott at 5:30 PM in Chanute, and four-seed Highland will face off with fifth-seeded Kansas City Kansas at 5:30 PM in Highland.
Johnson County along with the three winning teams from Monday night will play in the semifinal round scheduled for Friday, March 7th inside the JCCC Gymnasium on the campus of Johnson County Community College with Johnson County taking on the winner of Highland and Kansas City Kansas in the first semifinal matchup at 1 PM. The second semifinal matchup of the day will see the winner of Allen and Hesston square off against the winner of Neosho County and Fort Scott in a 5:30 PM quarterfinal matchup with the NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship game set for 2 PM on Saturday, March 8th.
The winner of the 2025 NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Women’s Basketball Tournament will receive an automatic bid into the 2025 NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Tournament with play scheduled for March 17-22 inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, MO.
