CHARLOTTE, NC – Reaching the month of December and the fourth NJCAA women’s basketball polls of the season, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference saw no changes among four teams in the latest NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball poll while two changes occurred within the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball poll released on Monday, December 2nd.
Of the seven teams ranked or receiving votes this week, three are ranked inside the top five of their respective polls as the conference continues to have at least one team ranked in the top two of every poll that has been released this season.
With both changes coming in the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball poll, the conference continues to see Hutchinson top the poll after running their record to 10-0 this season with a pair of wins over Colby and Independence last week to run their conference record to 4-0. Jumping up one more spot into the top five for the first time in program history is Dodge City as the Conquistadors have won seven straight games after a road win at Cowley followed by a home win over previously ranked Butler by a score of 85-70 at home on Saturday to improve to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the KJCCC. Coffeyville remains among those receiving votes for a second-straight week as the Red Ravens won their lone game last week over Independence to improve to 8-0 this season.
As for the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball poll, no changes leave Johnson County as the highest-ranked team from the conference by remaining number two with a 12-0 record following a pair of road wins last week. Highland continues to hold their number seven ranking following a home win over Iowa Western in their only action last week while Allen is ranked number 18 and Neosho County is ranked number 21 for a second-straight week.
This week’s action is spread throughout the week with at least one game taking place over each of the next seven days with Wednesday having a week-high of nine games taking place across the league. Wednesday will feature a ranked clash in D2 action between number 11 North Central Missouri and number 18 Allen while D1 play will see Coffeyville head to top-ranked Hutchinson for a battle of two of the top teams in the conference standings. Another busy day on Saturday will feature eight games including five conference clashes at the D1 level with three D2 teams also in action on the road.
