Five KJCCC Wrestling Teams, 13 Individuals Ranked In Latest NJCAA Regular Season Poll

CHARLOTTE, NC – As action has picked back up following the holiday break and teams get ready for the final month of the regular season, the NJCAA National Office has released their second set of wrestling rankings for the 2024-25 season with five Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference wrestling teams ranked in the latest poll released on Friday, January 10th.
One of the biggest changes in the team rankings is the rise of Fort Hays Tech Northwest into the top five by being ranked fifth with 47 total points as the Tigers have ranked wrestlers in four of the 10 weight classes which includes three wrestlers ranked in the top two of their respective weights. After spending each of the first two polls unranked, Pratt makes the jump into the poll with the number nine ranking after securing 31 total points with four ranked wrestlers while Labette is ranked number 13 with 20 points and three wrestlers in the individual rankings. Cowley sits one spot back of Labette in 14th with 16 total points while Cloud County is ranked 22nd (5 points) as both teams have one wrestler ranked in the top 10 of their respective weight classes.
As for the individual rankings, the conference has ranked wrestlers in eight of the 10 weight classes with 13 wrestlers from the KJCCC in the top 10 of their respective weight classes. The conference boasts the top-ranked wrestlers at 141 pounds (Evan Rodriguez – Cowley), 165 pounds (Melton Powe – Pratt), 174 pounds (Otgonbayar Batsuuri – Fort Hays Tech Northwest), and 184 pounds (Lazaro Crespo – Fort Hays Tech Northwest) while Job Lee (Fort Hays Tech Northwest - second) and Davion King (Labette – third) are both ranked in the top three eat 157 pounds. Other wrestlers ranked in the top five of their weight classes are James Bankston of Pratt (fourth – 285 pounds), and Matthew Marcum of Labette (fifth – 197 pounds) while the trio of Zane Donley (Pratt – 125 pounds), Kaiden Cue (Labette – 141 pounds), and Mac Chambers (Cloud County – 174 pounds) are all ranked sixth in their weight classes. Also ranked are Fort Hays Tech Northwest’s Dayton Bell (eighth – 165 pounds) and Pratt’s Cash Thomas (ninth – 157 pounds).
Action within the conference picks up this week with conference double duals for teams over the course of the next four weeks of the schedule ahead of the 2025 South Central District Championship Tournament hosted by Pratt on February 15th.
