November 8, 2007 (Chanute, KS)-
The 12th ranked Neosho Panther Wrestling team pushed the 4th
ranked
Labette County to the limit here on the campus of NCCC,
with the
visiting Cardinals using a decision of 3-2 in the final bout of
the
evening to clinch the dual 22-15. Neosho came out of the
gates strong
with Donte Butler 5 takedowns before cranking his
opponent over to his
back for the fall early in the 2nd stanza. Not to be
outdone Jarod
Spoon making his debut in a Panthers uniform this year edged out
his
opponent for a 4-2 victory. Labette marched back though scoring
4
victories in a row including a fall at 165 which put them up 13-9
at
that point. Jason Green and Tim Cross fought back with
decision
victories at 174 and 184 a piece to narrow the gap to
15-16. Daunte
Nixon at 197 lost a 5-2 decision to the 6th ranked junior
college
wrestler in the nation giving teammate
Christian Wintons a chance to
clinch the dual at heavyweight. However 9th
ranked Wintons lost by a
slim 3-2 margin to the 8th ranked foe, and thus the night ended
with
Labette edging Neosho down the stretch in front of a packed
NCCC
Panther Pavilion that saw a full house come out for a great night
of
wrestling.
