2024 KJCCC Division 1 Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Week 7
COLBY, Kan. – A pair of first-time award winners are this week’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women’s Soccer Players of the Week Hina Suzuki of Cowley Community College and Mia Tanaka of Barton Community College earning honors for week seven.
COLBY, Kan. – A pair of first-time award winners are this week’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women’s Soccer Players of the Week Hina Suzuki of Cowley Community College and Mia Tanaka of Barton Community College earning honors for week seven.
Hina Suzuki (Cowley) – Suzuki had a five-goal week last week as the nationally-ranked Tigers picked up a pair of wins in KJCCC play. After scoring two goals in a 5-2 win over Garden City, Suzuki added a hat trick on the road at Seward County as part of a 5-3 Cowley win. This season, Suzuki ranks 18th nationally in goals (12) and 25th in points with 25 along with four game-winning goals which ranks sixth.
Mia Tanaka (Barton) – Tanaka was solid in goal with 15 saves during Barton's 1-1 week. On Wednesday, surrendering a wind-aided 25-yard free kick and a point-blank deflected shot, Tanaka posted a career-high 13 saves, keeping Barton in the match of the eventual 2-1 loss to sixth-ranked Butler. On Saturday, Tanaka had two saves for her third shutout of the season, but it helped the Cougars keep pace in the upper half of the standings behind a 2-0 victory at Coffeyville.
