CHARLOTTE, NC – The final Kansas Jayhawk Community College Division 1 Soccer Goalkeepers of the Week in Maria Heuman (Kansas City Kansas) and Gabriel Bergamin (Barton) have earned NJCAA Division 1 Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week honors for their performances throughout the final week of the regular season.
Maria Heuman – KCKCC (NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week)
Heuman saw 11 shots this past week and let in just one against number 19 Cowley as part of a 3-1 road win over the Tigers. The Green Ridge, Missouri native currently leads the conference with seven solo shutouts and three shared shutouts for the 13-0-5 Blue Devils. Heuman is a huge part of why the Blue Devils boast a .50 GAA and have given up just nine goals in their 18 games and clinched a share of the KJCCC regular season title.
Gabriel Bergamin – Barton (NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week)
Barton freshman Gabriel Bergamin had an exceptional week out on the road, helping the Cougars to a perfect 2-0 week. For the week, Bergamin made saves on 13 of 14 shot attempts faced for a .929 save percentage. Bergamin started his solid week by denying five of six shots faced in a 3-1 victory at Garden City. Capping the week with a 2-0 victory at Seward County, Bergamin held strong in net despite the Cougars playing a man down for 48 minutes and falling two men down for the final 5:55 denying all eight shots to post his third shutout of the season.
