KCKCC, Butler Earn KJCCC Division 1 Women's Soccer Regular Season Title
COLBY, Kan. – Kansas City Kansas and Butler Community College have each earned a share of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women’s Soccer regular season crown with the Blue Devils earning the number one seed in the upcoming NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Plains District Tournament.
COLBY, Kan. – Kansas City Kansas and Butler Community College have each earned a share of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women’s Soccer regular season crown with the Blue Devils earning the number one seed in the upcoming NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Plains District Tournament.
Both teams finished the regular season with 38 total points in the KJCCC standings with KCKCC going 11-0-5 in conference play while Butler finished with a 12-2-2 record in KJCCC action. The Blue Devils won the head-to-head tiebreaker for seeding purposes by virtue of their 2-1 win at Butler on October 5th. For the Grizzlies, it is their 13th KJCCC title in program history while the Blue Devils earn their second title in program history and first since 2020.
Following KCKCC and Butler in the standings was Hutchinson with a third-place finish by totaling 30 points to edge out Cowley who finished fourth with 29 total points. The remaining teams to qualify for the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Plains District Tournament include Barton (fifth, 25 points), Dodge City (sixth, 16 points), Seward County (seventh, eight points), and Garden City (eighth, seven points).
With the potential for adverse weather later in the week, the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Plains District Tournament will begin on Friday, November 1st as the single-elimination tournament will see all first and second round games played at the higher seed among the two teams within the match. Opening round matches on Friday will see number five seed Barton head to four seed Cowley for the opening match of the tournament at 2 PM while top-seeded Kansas City Kansas will host Garden City at 5 PM. Saturday will also feature two matches as two seed Butler will host Seward County at 1 PM in El Dorado while three seed Hutchinson will host six seed Dodge City at 2 PM in Hutchinson. Plains District Tournament semifinal matches are scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 7th with the Championship match set for Sunday, November 10th at 1 PM on the campus of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. The winner of the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Plains District Tournament will earn an automatic qualification into the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer National Tournament, held November 17-23 in Wichita, Kansas.
