Johnson County Wins KJCCC Regular Season Title, Top Seed In NJCAA Region 6/9 Tournament
COLBY, Kan. – After finishing off an unbeaten regular season last Wednesday with a 6-0 home win over Highland Community College, the Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team has won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Women’s Soccer regular season title and earned the top seed in the 2024 NJCAA Region 6/9 Tournament which begins on Thursday, October 31st.
COLBY, Kan. – After finishing off an unbeaten regular season last Wednesday with a 6-0 home win over Highland Community College, the Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team has won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Women’s Soccer regular season title and earned the top seed in the 2024 NJCAA Region 6/9 Tournament which begins on Thursday, October 31st.
Throughout their 17-game regular season schedule, Johnson County went 14-0-3 with two of their three draws coming against top five foes in the opening weekend of the regular season as the Cavaliers earned a 3-3 tie at Scottsdale Community College before playing Phoenix College to a 2-2 draw. JCCC saw their only other game that did not end in a Cavalier win come in the opening game of NJCAA Region 6/9 play as Central Community College held Johnson County scoreless for the one and only time this season as part of a 0-0 tie on September 7th.
Within KJCCC play, Johnson County went a perfect 8-0-0 and outscored opponents 50-0 as the closest margin of victory in conference play was a 2-0 win at Neosho. The Cavaliers also held opponents scoreless in NJCAA Region 6/9 play by scoring 89 goals and having all 11 wins come by shutout. Entering postseason play, Johnson County has shutout each of their last 15 opponents and are one of just two teams in NJCAA Division 2 women’s soccer to hold an unbeaten record this season (Northwest Mississippi Community College).
The 2024 NJCAA Region 6/9 postseason tournament will begin on Thursday, October 31st as the top four teams in the final regular season standings of NJCAA Region 6/9 will play a single-elimination tournament with all games being played at the higher seed. Opening round games will see number one seed Johnson County host four seed Allen at 4 PM while the other semifinal matchup will feature number two seed Central Community College (Nebraska) play host to three seed Neosho County at 2 PM on the 31st. The two winners will face off on Sunday, November 3rd at the highest remaining seed with the winner earning the right to host the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer Plains District Tournament title game against the winner of the NJCAA Region 11/13 tournament on Saturday, November 9th.
