CHARLOTTE, NC – With just two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference continues to see five teams ranked within the latest NJCAA Division 1 and 2 Women’s Soccer Top 20 polls released on Monday, October 14th.
Of the five teams ranked in this week’s polls, only one team saw any movement from their ranking the previous week as four KJCCC teams are ranked in the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer poll along with one representative in the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer rankings.
In the latest division 1 ranking, both Kansas City Kansas Community College and Butler Community College maintain their top 10 rankings with the Blue Devils ranked seventh and the Grizzlies ranked eighth as the pair each went 1-0-1 last week while conceding just one goal across four total matches. Separated by just one point in the KJCCC Division 1 women’s soccer regular season standings, both teams have three matches remaining in the regular season with KCKCC holding a potential head-to-head tiebreaker by virtue of their win over the Grizzlies on October 5th. Also ranked in the latest Division 1 poll is Cowley with the number 15 ranking following a 1-1-0 week last week which included a loss to Butler while Hutchinson maintains their number 16 ranking from the previous week after earning a scoreless draw with Butler followed by a 3-0 road win at Coffeyville.
Remaining as the lone KJCCC women’s soccer representative in the NJCAA Division 2 Top 20 poll, Johnson County improved to 12-0-3 following a pair of wins last week as the Cavaliers have yet to concede a goal in conference or Region 6/9 play this season as JCCC has posted a shutout in each of their past 13 matches. With two matches remaining in the regular season, the Cavaliers have already clinched the KJCCC Division 2 women’s soccer regular season title and are one of just two unbeaten teams remaining in NJCAA Division 2.
Just one matchup involving ranked teams will take place this week across the KJCCC in women’s soccer with number 16 Hutchinson traveling to number seven KCKCC on Saturday afternoon for a 1 PM match that is likely to have a big impact on the KJCCC standings. Hutchinson is tied for third with 25 total points heading into the week with KCKCC one point back of conference-leading Butler with 31 points as teams continue to vie for high seeds that will ensure the right to host Region 6 playoff games on their home field.
