CHARLOTTE, NC – Ahead of the final week of the regular season with postseason play beginning next week, five Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams are ranked with a sixth receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division 1 and 2 Women’s Soccer Top 20 polls released on Monday, October 21st.
In addition to the five ranked teams from prior weeks, Barton jumps back into the mix as one of four teams receiving votes this week within the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer poll as the Cougars were last in the rankings on September 9, 2024. Four of the five teams from the KJCCC ranked this week are still part of the latest NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer rankings with one team ranked within the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer rankings.
With the Cougars joining as a team receiving votes, the KJCCC (NJCAA Region 6) boasts the most teams either ranked or receiving votes in this week’s NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer poll as Kansas City Kansas Community College is the lone conference school to sit inside the top 10 this week by holding the number eight ranking. Just outside the top 10 and ranked 11th is Butler Community College as the Grizzlies have a chance to claim a share of the KJCCC Division 1 women’s soccer regular season title on Wednesday at home against Dodge City in their regular season finale. KCKCC, which holds the head-to-head tiebreaker with Butler, has two matches remaining beginning on Wednesday at Cowley before hosting Garden City on Saturday as the Blue Devils sit three points back of Butler in the conference standings. Also ranked in the latest Division 1 poll is Hutchinson who maintains their number 16 ranking from last week along with Cowley who is ranked number 19 this week as the two will meet up on the final day of the regular season in Hutchinson on Saturday, October 26th.
Having already clinched the KJCCC Division 2 women’s soccer regular season title and number one seed in next week’s NJCAA Region 6/9 Tournament, Johnson County is again ranked number two in the latest NJCAA Division 2 Top 20 poll after winning their only match of the week last week at Southeast Community College. The Cavaliers are 13-0-3 this season and have not allowed a goal in their past 14 matches with the last goal allowed by JCCC coming on August 24th against number five ranked Phoenix College.
Teams will battle for postseason seeding this week beginning on Wednesday as four matches on the Division 1 side and three Division 2 matches will take place highlighted by a ranked matchup between Division 1 number eight KCKCC and number 19 Cowley in Arkansas City. Another seven matches are scheduled across the conference on the final day of the regular season on Saturday including another ranked matchup for Cowley as the Tigers head to Hutchinson while Allen County hosts Central Community College in a match that could have NJCAA Region 6/9 Tournament seeding implications on the Division 2 side.
