CHARLOTTE, NC – As the NJCAA soccer schedule gets set to flip over to the final month of the regular season, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has six teams ranked including three teams ranked in the top 10 of the latest NJCAA Division 1 and 2 women’s soccer top-20 polls released on Monday, September 30th.
Al six teams that are ranked this week were ranked last week with no changes occurring for either of the two KJCCC teams ranked in the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer poll while the D1 women’s soccer poll saw a pair of one-spot changes and a two-spot change with Butler the lone team to hold their same ranking as last week.
With there being no change for the KJCCC schools in the NJCAA Division 2 women’s soccer top 20 poll, Johnson County remains ranked number two while sporting an 8-0-3 record to sit only behind Northwest Mississippi Community College as the Rangers are the only team in this week’s poll to win all of their contests played this season to hold a 9-0-0 record. The Cavaliers are joined by number three ranked Phoenix College (8-0-1) and number 15 St. Charles Community College (7-0-1) as the only other teams in the poll without a loss this season. Neosho County joins Johnson County once again in the poll and is ranked number 16 following a pair of wins last week over Allen and Hesston to close out the first round of play within the Region 6/9 double-round robin schedule.
Within the NJCAA Division 1 women’s soccer poll, Butler Community College maintains its number six ranking as one of eight teams in this week’s rankings that have yet to suffer a loss this season. Holding an 8-0-3 overall record, the Grizzlies have seen all three of their ties come against teams ranked in this week’s top 10 including number two-ranked Seminole State, number eight-ranked Hill College, and number nine-ranked Kansas City Kansas. KCKCC moves up one spot to number nine after earning a 3-2 win at Garden City and 2-0 win over Seward last week to hold an 8-0-3 overall record. Making the biggest jump of any KJCCC school this week was Cowley with a two-spot move from number 14 up to number 12 after a 3-0 win over Hutchinson in their lone game last week while the Blue Dragons fell one spot from number 17 down to number 18.
This week’s schedule within the KJCCC is highlighted by the regular season rematch between Kansas City Kansas and Butler in a top 10 showdown on Saturday, October 5th at 6 PM in El Dorado. In this season’s earlier matchup played in Kansas City, a goal by the Blue Devils in the 89th minute led to a 1-1 draw as the two teams top the KJCCC standings with Butler having 25 total points and KCKCC having 21 total points following last week’s action.
