KJCCC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week - Week 2
COLBY, Kan. – Event wins and top performances at two separate meets this past weekend for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference women’s track and field athletes Anita Afrifa (Colby) and Cierra Gray (Cowley) have led to week two KJCCC Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Anita Afrifa (Colby) – KJCCC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Colby sophomore Anita Afrifa delivered a spectacular performance at the Thane Baker Invitational at Kansas State, dominating the track with electrifying speed! Afrifa claimed victories in both the 60m and 200m dashes, leaving her competition in the dust. In the 200m, she blazed to a new indoor personal best time of 23.72 seconds, cementing her name in Colby's history books. But the real highlight came in the 60m dash, where Afrifa shattered the Colby school record with a scorching time of 7.30 seconds! This incredible feat not only set a new NJCAA national-leading mark but also ranks her second all-time in NJCAA history.
Cierra Gray (Cowley) – KJCCC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Gray won the shot put at the 2025 Washburn University Rust Buster Classic with a throw of 13.86 meters (45 ft. – 5.75 in.) to punch her ticket to the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship meet. Her mark currently ranks fifth in the NJCAA as the sophomore also competed in the weight throw and had a personal best mark of 13.66 meters (44 ft. – 9.75 in.).
